Assassin's Creed: Revelations Constantinople Trailer

This trailer fleshes out a bit of back story about Constantinople, the main location in Assassin's Creed: Revelations.

A prince trying to keep the city from being overtaken by a rebellious faction and Ezio's own appearance in his own journey certainly make for an interesting tale to be woven through the streets of Constantinople.

Just remember, it's now Instanbul, not Constantinople. For those of you that don't get the reference, video after the jump.

Rainbow 6: Patriots Prototype Gameplay Trailer

Dust off the old snake cam and prepare for some prototype footage from your good ol' pals at the Rainbow 6 team.

Rainbow 6: Patriots is the next game in the Rainbow 6 series. I'd describe it, but watching it is even better.

Just know it has all your favorite things from the last games like a great cover system and rappelling!

Oh, and there's shooting of course. LOTS OF IT.

Hit the jump for the trailer.

Final Fantasy V, VI, and Chrono Cross Hitting PSN

As if games like Skyrim, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and Assassin's Creed: Revelations weren't enough to keep you busy for the rest of the year, Square has decided to tempt our digital wallets with the 'Winter of RPGs'.

Square is releasing three big name RPG's as PSOne Classics through the beginning of December: Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy V, and Final Fantasy VI.

And to think, I was happy with just Chrono Trigger.

Dates after the jump.

Grand Theft Auto V: Reveal Trailer

Today, Rockstar Games finally unveiled the first game footage of the long awaited Grand Theft Auto V. The game is set back on the west coast and looks to take place in fan favorite city, San Andreas.

Personally, I always get majorly sidetracked in GTA games, hitting ramps and seeing how long I can last against the law instead of doing the actual missions. Hence why the only GTA game I've beaten is Vice City, though that might be because I loved the entire 80's vibe it had going.

For those of you more interested in the now, check out the how far R.A.G.E. has come since Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis after the jump.

Bonus points if you know what R.A.G.E. stands for!

We're Not Dead Yet!!!

Yes ladies and gentlemen, we are still alive and kicking though our posts would prove otherwise.

Unfortunately many things have come up to occupy my time, but rest assured that we haven't forgotten about you.

All I ask is that you guys stay patient with us. There are at least half a dozen big games that come out every week for the next two months and unfortunately we don't have the manpower to cover it all and play everything.

So I ask of you dear readers, what do you want to see from us? Are there certain games you care about more than others? Do you want us to review a certain game more than another? Would you like more Wii games (Wouldn't we all?)?

And as a heads up, I did finally manage to get my hands on Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger so expect a write up on those two games within the near future! For those of you that don't know what I'm talking about, check out the article here.

Please let us know either in the comments, via email, or on Facebook!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Redemption Campaign Trailer

You guys remember that Call of Duty has a single player campaign right?

Well if not, Infinity Ward is set to remind you with this trailer. It looks like it's taking all the best moments of the previous Modern Warfare games and making them so big and over the top it would make a Michael Bay film look like a Disney Movie.

Hit the jump for the trailer.

Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword Opening Cinematic

Looks like Nintendo is trying it's hardest to make me dust off my Wii and actually hook it up with The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.

The game looks amazing and the fact that Nintendo says it has at least forty hours of gameplay has me willing to almost forgive them for ignoring the hardcore.

Almost.

Check out the opening cinematic after the jump. No gameplay, but some cool backstory.

Get Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition Free

Remember that Zelda: 25th Anniversary that's going on? Well instead of giving a gift to Nintendo, they have decided to give back to the fans with a free game!

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition isn't just a straight port of the original games, but an enhanced version of it.

There is a single player campaign that has you switching between two Links, you can now do two player instead of four, and Nintendo even added two new areas as well!

The game is free from now till February 2012 on both the 3DS eShop and the DSiWare store as well. That means DSi, DSi XL, and 3DS owners can play together.

Check out the cool launch trailer after the jump.

Darks Souls: All Saints Trailer

Dark Souls, the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls, is scheduled to hit next week on October 4th.

From Software has decided to toss out one more hype trailer showcasing the game and some of the bosses ready to beat you into submission over and over again.

Demon's Souls was notoriously difficult and a definite throwback to old school games that punished you for running blindly into situations.

Think you're up to the challenge? Check out the trailer after the jump.

Forza Motorsport 4: Season Pass and Demo Details

My car experience only constitutes changing my oil, tires, and Top Gear. Yet every time I see some racing game or simulator I feel like I could be an F1 racer or an automotive engineer.

Forza Motorsports 4 sees to help me with my delusions of automotive grandeur on October 11th, but the guys at Turn 10 have decided to be kind though and let us have a taste of what to expect in the game in the form of a demo releasing on October 3, little over a week from the games full release.

Also announced was the Forza 4 Season Pass which is similar to what Microsoft did with the Gears of War 3 season pass which allowed you to save some money on future DLC.

All the details on what you get with the Season Pass after the jump.

Batman Arkham City: Joker Trailer

Dah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah, BATMAN!!!

Sorry, just seeing more and more about Batman: Arkham City makes me want the game even more and this new Joker trailer doesn't help matters either.

Max Payne 3: First Trailer and Pop-Up Edition

It's been a long time coming but finally we have a good look and Rocktar's next big game, Max Payne 3.

Rockstar released the First Trailer a few weeks back, which looks amazing by the way, and they just recently released the Pop-Up Edition of the trailer that has some extra info about the game.

Check out the Pop-Up trailer after the jump, and expect Max Payne 3 in March of 2012.

Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI Hit PSN Tuesday (Update: NOT)

UPDATE: Apparently Sony screwed up in announcing the PSOne Classics. They used an old document that listed both games and apparently they don't have an actual release date for either game.

Well it looks like the gaming gods read my previous post on 7 Games I Should Have Played But Haven't and responded accordingly.

After YLOD'ing my PS3 as punishment, they are allowing me to seek redemption by releasing two of the games on my list on the PSN this Tuesday: Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI, easily two of the greatest RPG's of all time.

If you look at Square-Enix's previous PSN releases, $9.99 is looking like the price point for each game.

Luckily, my PSP is still operational so I can download and play these PSOne Classics on it instead.

Red Dead Redemption: New DLC and GOTY Edition

You know what gamers like? Free content. Rockstar knows this and they have decided to give Red Dead Redemption one last hurrah in the form of one last download pack for the multiplayer.

For those of you that might have not ventured into the great West, Rockstar has you covered as well with the Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition that will package all DLC for the game into one neat package.

All the details on the DLC and what all is included on the Red Dead Redemption: GOTY are after the jump.

Street Fighter X Tekken TGS 2011 Trailer

Ken Masters!!!

This week brings us the Tokyo Game Show and a whole ton of new info on a whole bunch of games, some of which of course will no doubt never see the light of release in the West.

Let's start off then with a game that we know we will get: Street Fighter X Tekken.

My only problem with this game is that I know I should just wait till Super Street Fighter X Tekken: Ultimate Arcade Edition inevitably releases with character tweaks, all costumes, and extra characters included.

Though the acronym, SSFXT:UAE, would be a pain in the ass to type.

Salvador's Top 7: Rage Quit Moments

Welcome to another edition of Salvador's Top 7! This week, we are looking at some of my top rage quit moments.

For those who don't quite know what rage quitting is, here's a handy definition via Urban Dictionary:
Rage Quit: To stop, cease, or discontinue a game due to aggravation from being constantly bested (pwned) in any type of challenge within the game.

Most people attribute it to competitive games like Street Fighter or Halo but as the definition states, it can be applied to any gaming situation.

So relax and hit the jump to see what controller chucking indecencies I've experienced.

Assassin's Creed Revelations Beta: Details And Start Date

Fellow Templars! The day is almost nigh where we will finally be able to beat the Assassin's and bring peace to this world.

But, in order to beat the Assassin's we must train you to become the ultimate Templar weapon! And wouldn't you know that we have

So starting September 3rd and running through September 11th, select candidates will have the opportunity to begin their training in the Animus Project before any other Templars are given the chance. This will help us iron out any wrinkles with the training program.

Think of it as a sort of "beta test" if you will.

If you'd like to find out which of you are the "select candidates" and some other details about this training session, make sure you hit the jump for more information.

Dead Island Release Trailer

Note: Game releases September 6th. It isn't out now like the trailer states.

As with every big release game, Deep Silver has decided to give us one last trailer to try entice you into buying their new game, Dead Island. If the four player co-op, melee focused, zombie survival game with a dash of RPG elements does nothing to entice you then maybe nothing will.

One cool thing about this trailer is that it uses some of the music from that amazing reveal trailer.

If you happened to miss that trailer, then you can check it out after the jump.

Kevin Butler, VP of Awesome Returns

Microsoft may be able to throw together some pretty awesome ads for it games like they did with the Gears of War 3 campaign trailer, but Sony has Kevin Butler and damn is that guy entertaining.

In this new Kevin Butler ad, we see the return of good ol' Kevin and the rise of Sony's new marketing campaign: Long Live Play.

If you want to know the origins of this new campaign, all you have to do is look back to Sony's 2010 E3 Press Conference and check out what was quite possibly the biggest highlight of the show, Kevin Butler's speech.

Hit the jump for that video if you haven't seen it.

Salvador's Top 7: Games I Should Have Played But Haven't

So in my previous Top 7, a comment was made as to why I didn't include a certain game on my lists, in either the Top 7 or in the honorable mentions.

Now I responded to that individual in the comments and the simple answer was that I had never played the game.

It got me thinking: What other games have I not played that I probably should have? As many of you fellow gamers know, there are not enough hours in the day to play every single game that comes out.

Hell, just look at this years releases starting in September: Gears of War 3, Resistance 3, Halo CE: Anniversary Edition, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Batman: Arkham City, and hell that's just off of the top of my head as I type this.

But I do have a few games that I feel that I should play. Classics that deserve my time or games to franchises I love. So hit the jump to see which ones I haven't played but hopefully find a time to get around to.

Afterwards there is a poll in which you can vote which game I should play first, so make sure you vote!

And I sincerely apologize ahead of time for this list and have made it blatantly obvious that this is a big fail on my part, hence the facepalm picture above.

Salvador's Top 7: Super Nintendo Games

This week marks the 20th anniversary of the U.S release of the Super Nintendo so in order to celebrate I'm going to take a look back at some of my favorite SNES games.

Now you will see a big lack of the RPG's that the SNES is known for since I have never actually played any of them. I know, blasphemy. But I do plan on playing Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasy III at some point.

Note: All the games on my lists are games that I've personally played. If I don't name a game, chances are I haven't played it.

So hit the jump and see what else I came up with.

First Borderlands 2 Teaser Trailer

Borderlands 2 is coming to scratch that loot game itch you may have! New characters, weapons, abilities, and more!

Now apparently the previous characters in the first Borderlands will make an appearance but will not be playable. Hence the new character, Salvador, the Gunzerker (I swear he's not based off me!).

To see what we have to look forward to early next year, hit the jump for the teaser trailer that is all "in game" according to Gearbox.

New Trailer Reveals New Villain For Batman: Arkham City

Ice to meet you!
The villains just keep adding up in Batman: Arkham City. You got The Joker, Penguin, Two Face, The Riddler, and now another joins the fold.

I'm pretty sure that picture gave away which villain this trailer is about. I will give you a hint, it's not the Terminator. He wasn't a Batman villain.

If you haven't figured it out yet, the trailer after the jump should clear it right up for you.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations Beta Announced (Update)

Update: IGN just dropped some more details on the beta. All new info after the jump.

The multiplayer for Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is one of my favorite multiplayer experiences of recent memory. So seeing as Ubisoft just announced via the official Assassin's Creed Facebook page that the newest entries in the series will be getting a multiplayer beta test two months before the game releases, you can only imagine how giddy I am.

That's the good news, unfortunately some of the details as to how to participate may not be to some gamer's liking.

What little details they have given after the jump.

The 3DS Revival Continues With A New Color

I was considering going out and getting a 3DS this week once the price drop hits, but a recent announcement from Nintendo has swayed that decision.

Not because of something stupid they did mind you, but because they announced a whole new color that will release alongside Star Fox 64 3D come September 9th and I would rather wait for the new color.

Well, it's a new color for North America at least. Japan has had it for a while now.

If you haven't figured it out which color it is yet, there is a bigger picture after the jump that may clarify it for you as to what it's official color name is.

And yes, it is co-op. You will be able to buy weapons, equipment, and support as you progress through the waves and earn cash and XP for your soldier.

Check out the trailer after the jump and see what clues you might be able to pull as to what else this game will include.

Salvador's Top 7: Video Game Music Tracks

If you like game music, look these guys up

Welcome to Friday's Top 7! Every week I'll try to put together a top seven list of something gaming related. It could be the top NES games, the top video game villains, or the top funniest things I've heard on Xbox Live. It pretty much can be whatever I feel like as long as it is gaming related.

For this week inaugural Top 7, I've decided to go with something that is often overlooked but can be just as important as gameplay and graphics: music.

As a former band geek (even marching band), I love it when a game has a soundtrack that complements what is going on the screen. Whether it is original compositions like Infamous 2 or games that have licensed tracks like Burnout Paradise, if it is good, I will go out and find it.

So sit back and check out some of the best music I've heard through my years of gaming.

Gaming Quickies

Welcome to Gaming Quickies, were we round up some of the news that almost slipped by and make it a tad bit more digestible.

First off, if you happened to miss it, Nintendo announced a major price drop to the 3DS. They also announced some freebies for those of you that pay the full $250 before the price drop. Check out the full details here.

Nintendo to Drop 3DS Price. Outlines Plan For Early Adopters

In a move that is as worrying as it is surprising, Nintendo has announced a 32% price drop on the Nintendo 3DS starting August 12th.

Also in the recent price drop announcement, Nintendo has outlined plans to thank it's early adopters and entice consumers to possibly purchase one before the price drop.

All the details after the jump.

Playstation Home is Being Invaded by Street Fighters and Zombies!!!

I hardly use the Playstation Home service, but here in the next few weeks I might spend more time using Home than playing games or watching movies on my PS3.

Through the power of Playstation, I will be watching the Evo Fighting-Game Championships all weekend and then a few weeks later, surviving the zombie infestation at the Central Plaza courtesy of Dead Island.

Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Gameplay

Let me tell you somethings kids, I LOVE Halo. Ironically enough though, I didn't start the franchise off with Halo: Combat Evolved but rather with Halo 2.

Although I started off with Halo 2, I did eventually go back and play the campaign of the first and I can firmly say that the first Halo game has the best story of ALL the Halo games. Only Halo Reach had a story that began to hold a candle to the original.

So I am more than thrilled to see that the original Halo is getting the love and attention it deserves with Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary. Even with Bungie formally bidding their goodbye to the franchise I know that 343 Industries won't let Halo fall to the wayside anytime soon.

If you don't believe me, check out the gameplay video after the jump and see how good the original Halo looks now.

Sonic The Hedgehog 20th Anniversary: Demo, App, and Discounts

Today marks the day that that chubby, speeding blur blew on to the scene and actually gave Mario a run for his money.

So how is Sega planning to celebrate? With a whole bunch of discounts on downloadable Sonic games, a free Sonic iOS app, and a demo (for a limited time) for their newest Sonic project, Sonic Generations, which will feature both Classic and Modern Sonic and levels designed from Sonic's 20 year history.

Duke Nukem Forever and Ever...

(J.P. Dozier)

Duke Nukem Forever. A game that was 12 years in the making. Well actually it didn't take 12 years to make but just that long to finally release it. So far all the reviews I have read, makes this game seem like it was a waste of time and money to be released. Everyone that I have talked to (except one guy who never played the series before) loves the game. IGN gave the game a 5.5/10, considering it to be mediocre.  How dare they I say.  This game is anything but. I feel that most of the people putting the game down either:
  A. Never played the game before.
  B. Because the game took sooooo long to release, fan boys expected something so majestic and got a regular Duke Nukem game (Not saying anything bad about that).  Well, here is my honest review about the game.

Going Digital: Nintendo Downloads 6/16

So with the introduction of the eShop last week, Nintendo has for some reason decided to shift their weekly digital releases to Thursdays now. So we will be here each Thursday to let you know what's new on the digital front.

Now don't forget that your 3DS plays DSiWare as well, hence why those games prices are listed in both Points and actual dollar amount.

While there isn't a whole bunch of stuff dropping this week, there is at least one game for each part of the Nintendo downloads, so hit the jump to see if there is something that piques your fancy.

THQ Shuts Down Kaos. Homefront Still Alive.

It's always sad to hear about studio closures, no matter the developer. It means the possible death of franchises, but most importantly that some people are now without a job.

THQ confirmed today the closing of two of its studios, one being THQ Digital Warrington located in the UK and the other being Kaos Studios, developers of Frontlines: Fuels of War and Homefront.

The only insight THQ has given into the closings is "it has made a strategic realignment within its internal studio structure..."

Apparently the employees at both studios have been notified and "will have the opportunity to interview for open positions with the company globally."

As for Homefront, THQ apparently sees the franchise as something worth keeping around and has turned the development of the franchise to it's Montreal studio.

Say what you will about Kaos's previous efforts, but they did have some pretty neat ideas that I hope carry over into future THQ titles. Good luck to those guys in finding another studio to call home.

The only thing to fear is F.E.A.R. itself.

(J.P. Dozier)
With the release of F.E.A.R. 3 coming June 21st, I thought it would be great to do a review on the series. Since the release of F.E.A.R. in 2005 by Monolith Productions, the games have what true gamers love: 1. The games actually correlate with one another. Not just creating games that do not follow the storyline to the other ones (I hate when they do that). 2. There is lots of violence, blood, more violence, scenes that scare the piss out of you when you play and being able to ride around in a kick ass robot that you blow stuff up with.
Riding in the robot was one of my favorite parts of the game.
When you have all of those great features of a game, how could you not go wrong? I am thinking poor advertising. Or they have been making most of their sales on the PC. From what I have been reading about it, more people prefer it on PC than the consoles. These games have been getting scores of 8/10 or higher by many reviews but have sold under a million copies for since their release. Remember, this is for Xbox 360 and PS3, not the PC. I dunno the figures they have in sales. F.E.A.R. has sold only 930,000 since 2006 and F.E.A.R. 2 with only 810,000 since 2009.

So lets go into what the games are about now.

So you guys know what we think about the game, but now I want to know what YOU think.

I will create a post on here featuring the best impressions you guys sent in so that all of you can read what others thought of the game.

If enough people send in a response, I could see us doing it for every review we do.

Where To Watch the E3 Press Conferences

Who needs Photoshop when I have MS Paint?
What? Not going to E3? Well neither are we so there.

Unfortunately, I guess we weren't cool enough to go to E3 this year so we get to sit around and let all those 'real journalists' have all the fun.

But not all hope is lost! Thanks to the magic of both the internet and television we can still get the scoop of all the happenings of E3! Especially the press conferences.

Listings after the jump.

Tournament Update: Read if You Want Anymore

We love tournaments. The trash talking, clutch plays, and even the social interactions. So we were really sad that no one decided to show up for the Black Ops tournament we held last night.

In light of that, we are going to try some things to make sure that these things go smooth and that people actually show. It would suck if we don't do tournaments anymore because of a lack of people showing.

All the details after the jump.

Darksiders II: The Horsemen Cometh Again

So Game Informer has the scoop on the new Darksiders game as revealed on next months cover. But contrary to the above picture you won't be playing as War this time around. Which horseman will take center stage this time around?

Click the jump to find out who it is as well as the E3 trailer

Sony's 'Welcome Back' Program is Up. Get Your Free Content!

Damn Sony that was quick. I know they said they would roll it out 'soon' but I expected it to hit next week.

For those of you that don't remember, this program was Sony's way of apologizing to all PSN users for the attack on the PSN and the downtime that was caused by it.

This applies to both PS3 and PSP users who had a PSN account before April 20th. Anyone else is S.O.L. but hey, that's what you get for being an Xbot or Wiitard, granted the Wii's online never really worked in the first place.

Note: I own all the consoles so I'm allowed to make fanboy jokes about everyone. :P

Details after the jump.

A New Challenger Enters the Ring!

It seems as if fighting games are in a revival of sorts. These are just the ones off the top of my head: Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Blazblue Continuum Shift, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter X Tekken, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Tekken X Street Fighter, Marvel Vs Capcom 3, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike Online Edition, and I'm pretty sure I've forgetten another half a dozen.

So Namco probably saw it as a good time to hop on the bandwagon and show off Soul Calibur V.

Apparently set 17 years after the events of Soul Calibur IV, looks like the tale of two swords continues on and brings in new fighters to the weapon based fighter.

Check out the E3 trailer after the jump which shows of some of the new characters and some new gameplay additions as well.

Metal Gear and Zone of the Enders Getting HD Remakes

Though Hideo Kojima said he wouldn't be at E3 and that Metal Gear Rising will be absent as well, doesn't mean that we won't still get some great news out of him.

Konami recently announced that it's bringing old Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders games to both Xbox 360 and PS3 and that they are getting HD remakes.

You have the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection and the Zone of the Enders HD collection. Full details and pictures after the jump.

Crystal Ballin': E3 Predictions Part 3 - Nintendo

So less than a week away and all of us gamers will be drooling over new trailers, screenshots, and news that is to surely ooze out from E3.

Probably the biggest draw of the the show is the conferences held by the major platform holders, and this year definitely will be an interesting one for the Big Three.

Microsoft has to make up ground with core title releases and the Kinect, Sony has to regain lost ground not only with consumers but publishers, and Nintendo is easily poised to steal the show with their new console reveal.

What else might happen though? What news and huge surprises will be announced? That's where I come in. There is some for sure answers and some completely out there guesses going on here but remember, this is my take on what I believe will happen at E3.

And in case you missed our previous E3 predictions here is Part 1 focusing on Microsoft and Part 2 dealing with Sony.

Here is the conference schedule and the order in which I will do these posts:

Microsoft: June 6 12PM EST

Sony: June 6 8PM EST

Nintendo: June 7 12PM EST

And as you probably guessed, this last one will all be Nintendo. Last years E3 conference was easily the best of the three. With the announcement of the 3DS, Kirby, Metroid, and Donkey Kong, Nintendo fans had a lot to be happy about.

Now though, games for the DS and Wii are pretty much non-existent and the 3DS definitely not meeting expectations, both in sales and consumer standards, Nintendo has a lot to of ground to make up. Will their new console pull them from this slump that plagued them through the the Gamecube's lifecycle? Or are Nintendo fans subject to a repeat of the Wii?

Playstation Network: Now Fully Functional!

ITS BACK!!!
Guess what ladies and gents? The Playstation Network is fully operational now that the PS Store has been restored! And that is both PSP and PS3.

So now you can do your redeem codes that some of you might be sitting on, like me and my L.A. Noire DLC, or cue up some downloads with the hundreds of pieces of new downloadable content that Sony is desperately trying to catch up on.

If you want to see the list, the US Playstation Blog has the details of every single piece of downloadable content that went live and they say that there will be another update on Friday with more updates coming next week.

As for the Welcome Back program and the free games we are due, according to the blog post it isn't live yet but they had this to say about it:

"It is currently in the final stages of testing and will be available to download soon;we’ll be sure to let you know when."

I know I personally have a ton of codes to burn up and a crap ton of Playstation Plus stuff to download considering there is 32 pieces of content just for PS + members.
Dissidia Costumes here I come!!!
And as a side note, it took 43 days from when the PSN came down to when full functionality was restored.
