I hardly use the Playstation Home service, but here in the next few weeks I might spend more time using Home than playing games or watching movies on my PS3.
Through the power of Playstation, I will be watching the Evo Fighting-Game Championships all weekend and then a few weeks later, surviving the zombie infestation at the Central Plaza courtesy of Dead Island.
If you want to know what these events are all about, hit the jump for the details.
Are you ready to rumble?!?! Because starting this Friday, Sony will be streaming the three day Evo Fighting-Game Championship LIVE from Las Vegas.
I wish my Abel was good enough to be there..... |
Plus, Sony is giving away exclusive Playstation Home items for each day that you watch the event. So for those of you who don't care about the fighting game Renaissance we are going through know that you can at least get some freebies out of it.
Get the exact details of the schedule and freebies here at the Playstation Blog.
Now if zombies are more your cup of tea, Playstation Home has you covered as well because in order to celebrate the release of Dead Island, a zombies will invade Playstation Home.
Hopefully this is contained just to Home and not real life. |
Sony hopes to bring some life to Playstation Home (pun intended) by unleashing a zombie outbreak upon the Playstation Home masses.
First off, the Central Plaza will transform to imitate the resort island in which Dead Island takes place. After that the zombies will shamble in for you to entertain yourselves with.
Easily the coolest thing you will be able to do is craft your own weapons and then use them against the zombies. It is a little mini game that has you pitted against waves of zombies to see if you can survive. But you don't have to do it alone since you can play with up to four other friends to see which of them will become zombie food once the real zombie apocalypse hits!
After you are done dealing with the onslaught of zombies, you can have your picture taken with them or even take a zombie survival survey. The survey will test your zombie apocalypse knowledge and tell you what your rate of survival would be when the inevitable zombie outbreak does happen.
In doing this you will not only be able to unlock exclusive Playstation Home items but actual in game content for Dead Island as well including a special weapon called "Exploding Meat."
All this zombie related goodness is supposed to go down in the few weeks before Dead Island's September 6th release date so expect it sometime in August.
I know I definitely will be watching Evo this weekend. Anyone one else going to be sitting through the system update screen to take advantage of these events?
Remember Playstation owners, give yourself at least a day of time to go through the ton of updates you will have to do. |
